“His heart is bleeding,” Sampaio said. “Things are so bad that he cannot take it anymore. He can’t bear to see what’s going on.”

“New Bedford artist who painted Jesus identified

Carvalho painted the image on paper and glued it to the wall with a biodegradable wheat paste, so the painting will gradually fade away. The transience of the work is a keystone of the medium, which he calls “street art.”
