Bij de spooksteden van China horen natuurlijk ook spookmusea, liefst ontworpen door een starchitect. Al die zaalruimte vullen met content (en/of kunst) doet er verder niet zoveel toe dus staan er veel musea leeg.

En wie betaalt dat allemaal? Over hoe de Chinese groei wordt gefinancieerd, kom er maar in aanstaande economische wereldcrisis:

So with hardly enough in the coffers to run their cities as it is, how are municipalities able to afford their extremely costly but starkly unprofitable new cultural showpieces? […]”
